Charlson & Wilson Bonded Abstracters is monitoring the impact of the Kansas Courts security incident on our operations and our ability to provide you with title information and closing services.
As of October 17, 2023, we are able to continue to issue title commitments, policies and conduct closings if certain requirements are met. Currently for most transactions this requirement involves the parties signing an Affidavit that they have no pending matters before the court where the real estate is located. At this time, with a signed affidavit and indemnity, in most cases, we can issue title insurance policies without any additional exceptions.
If you have a transaction that has a pending court case that has already been identified on the title commitment, please contact the closing officer assigned to your file so we can discuss the options available for that situation.
As always, we will work with all our external and internal resources to react to the incident and keep things moving, for you and your customers. There will, of course, be delays on certain transactions, but our goal is to do everything we can on our end to keep your closings on schedule. We will do our best to keep you all informed as this situation continues to evolve.
